Yoga AB (Yoga for the Ageing Body)

It is a fact that we are all ageing. The inevitable ageing process affects each of us in various ways. While we can’t stop this from happening, we can work to slow the process down. A way to help slow the effect of time is by practising a style of yoga tailored to specific abilities and limitations. 

‘Yoga for the Ageing Body’ is not a new and experimental style of yoga. It has evolved over my two decades of teaching and guiding yoga. It is a practice that has continuously proven highly beneficial for all ages, fitness levels, athletes and not the least for the older generation. As every person is different and has unique challenges and strengths, these sessions are tailor-made to each individual’s specific needs and states.

The classes suitable for all fitness levels aim to help you age well. Ageing well isn’t about looking younger than your actual age. It’s about living your best life and having the physical and mental health to enjoy it. As we age, we lose degrees of strength, elasticity and stamina. These qualities deteriorate over time. By joining these classes, you will honour your body by maintaining enough strength, mobility and flexibility to function in your daily activities.

A significant factor in physical health is mental stress, so there is more to ageing gracefully than addressing the body. These sessions stimulate the relaxation response and induce calmness while decreasing stress, allowing you to deal more effectively with daily stressors and anxiety.

In no way do you have to be of a certain age or consider yourself old to join these classes. Joining these sessions can be an excellent self-care investment in maintaining positive effects on cellular ageing, mobility, balance and mental health.
